 Our client, an essential player in the Financial Services Industry, set up to offer specialized services within the Nigerian Capital Market is looking to fill the position of Head, Communications and Marketing.

Job Purpose

This position will be responsible for supporting the management of the firms in developing and executing its communication and marketing strategy across various channels as well as to increase its reach and impact through the delivery of high value and influential Marketing, Communications and Public Relations in Nigeria and Internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a communications and marketing strategy in line with the firm’s business strategy.
  • Organize and lead established day-to-day management of the firms marketing, communications, public relations, brand management, social media, CSR, and events management processes in line with agreed objectives, policies, procedures and the firms’ strategic plans.
  • Lead and manage enterprise-wide communications across organisational units in all offices (Lagos and Abuja), and for specific operational or knowledge projects, by providing general guidelines and setting clear communication goals and key performance indicators and ensuring the allocation of necessary human and financial resources to achieve the required objectives.
  • Prepare and implement marketing communication programmes to mobilize public opinion to support the firms’ products and capital market development in Nigeria through the publication of articles and speeches, dissemination of films, organisation of exhibitions and management of events, visits, debates, etc.
  • Ensure the production and distribution of high quality and informative communications products like brochures, publications, press reviews, audio-visual and electronic documents for the media and the public to enhance the firm’s image and maintain good and close working relations with key stakeholders.
  • Develop crisis management initiatives to mitigate against reputational risks and build positive PR capital.
  • Identify and implement effective techniques for fostering healthy relationships with stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic messaging in response to media inquiries about the work the firm is involved in within support of its stakeholders.
  • Manage the company’s online presence and social media channels.
  • Advise the Executive and Management team on all matters relating to communications, marketing, brand management, social media, CSR and events management.
  • Review and analyse proposals to identify opportunities that promote brand image building and strengthen relationships with the media.
  • Develop, implement and adhere to communications and marketing budget.
  • Perform related work as required.

Required qualification and experience

  • Minimum 10 years significant work experience to include a senior level at an agency; or with a leading organisation, preferably financial sector, and demonstrated experience in communications strategy development and implementation, brand management, CSR, events management; etc
  • Minimum of first degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing or other disciplines relevant to the position. Candidates must also hold at least one Postgraduate Degree from a reputable University in the relevant discipline.

  • Professional membership of at least 2 (local/foreign) of the following:
  • Advertisers Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON)
  • Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)
  • Nigeria Institute of Marketing (NIM)
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK
  • Chartered Institute of Public Relations UK
